GraceWorks Leicester is a Permaculture Project in Leicester city that enables communities to live happy healthy lives in the limits of our planet. GraceWorks has two main sites across Leicester in Evington opposite the park and in Belgrave at the end of the Golden Mile on Moira Street. At the Evington site we run the Introduction to Permaculture and the full Permaculture Design Course.

As well as the Permaculture Course GraceWorks offer courses in Forest Gardening, Bee Keeping, Organic Growing, Composting, Green Building, and Aquaponics. On a weekly basis GraceWorks offers a regular organic 'Have A Go Gardening' session that anyone com join us on a Wednesday morning at the Graceworks site in Evington.

Graceworks in Leicester demonstrates a model for sustainable livelihood – that is, to make a living without damaging the health of the environment, the economy, the community or the individual. Graceowork's aim is to strengthen our local communities and make them more resilient. Contributing to the creation of a sustainable and just food system.

What is Permaculture?

The essence of Permaculture is the creative design of an ecologically sound way of living in our households, gardens, communities and businesses. It is created by cooperating with nature and caring for the earth and its people. 

It tackles how to grow food, build houses and create communities, and minimise environmental impact at the same time. Its principles are being constantly developed and refined by people throughout the world in very different climates and cultural circumstances.

It is a practical method of developing ecologically harmonious, efficient and productive systems that can be used by anyone, anywhere.

By thinking about the way we use our resources - food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs - it is possible to get much more out of life by using less. We can be more productive for less effort, reaping benefits for our environment and ourselves, for now and for generations to come.
